MAASTRO clinic is een bestralingsinstituut dat de bestraling (radiotherapie) van diverse kankersoorten verzorgt.
Radiotherapie is een behandelingsvorm die gebruik maakt van straling. Radiotherapie wordt onder meer gebruikt bij de behandeling van kanker, maar ook andere (niet-kwaadaardige) aandoeningen komen soms voor een bestralingsbehandeling in aanmerking. Voor de bestraling wordt gebruik gemaakt van röntgenstraling die echter vele malen sterker is dan de straling die gebruikt wordt voor het maken van röntgenfoto's. Soms wordt ook een radioactieve bron gebruikt die in het lichaam in of dichtbij de tumor wordt aangebracht. Voor alle gebruikte straling geldt dat deze onzichtbaar, niet te ruiken en niet voelbaar is.
