Thijs Ackermans has a BSc degree in biomedical sciences and a MSc degree in human movement science, both obtained at Maastricht University. During his PhD at Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom) he developed & implemented a fall prediction tool within the fall prevention service. Afterwards, he worked as a postdoc for four years at the Institute for Orthopedic Research and Training at KU Leuven (Belgium), during which he also served as a policy officer in the final year. In his current role at Maastro and Maastricht University, he serves as the project coordinator for research projects within the Clinical Data Science department and dedicates approximately half a day a week to conducting his own research.
